Surprise! Even though we just celebrated amazon prime day in July, the mega-retailer has Announced a second big saving event: the Prime Early Access Offer – happening on Tuesday, October. 11 and Wednesday 1 October 12
Of course, it’s never too early to start writing your wish list for the big sale. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know before the event.
Amazon Prime Early Access Sale is the first of its kind exclusive sale event for Prime members in the fall season, before the holiday shopping. Features two days of special savings on thousands of items across all product categories.
Amazon announced that the Prime Early Access sale will take place this year on October 1. 11 and 12.
For the past few years, Amazon Prime Day has also lasted two days. Before 2020, Prime Day always took place in July, but the sale was delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic and took place in October. In 2021, the event returned to the summer with a June date, and earlier this year, Prime Day took place in July.
Now it looks like Amazon is paying homage to Prime Day leading up to the 2020 holidays with the announcement of the Prime Early Access Sale.
First things first: make sure you actually have a Amazon Prime Membership. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial here, after which your membership will cost $14.99 per month or $139 per year. In addition to fast, free two-day shipping, you’ll also get access to Prime Video’s ad-free music streaming, unlimited photo storage, and unlimited reading. Many of the best Prime Early Access Sale deals, including Lightning Deals (we’ll get to that in a second), are only available to Prime members.
Once your membership is complete, you should also take some time to make sure your payment methods, including 1-click setup and default delivery, are up to date so you can get the deals you want in a timely manner.
Additionally, Prime members can set up deal alert notifications related to their recent Amazon searches and recently viewed items on Amazon. Prime Early Access Sale Event Page on the Amazon app between now and the event. Once the Prime Early Access sale begins, members will receive push notifications about available deals.
Alexa will also be able to notify everyone of deals 24 hours before they go live when you create a Wish List, add items to your cart, or save them for later. These items can also be purchased through Alexa.
While there are already some early bird deals available, you’ll want to bookmark those Amazon deals page, where all the items included in the sale should appear. Be sure to check in early and often on the big day; Prime Early Access Sale deals are likely to sell out quickly, and new deals are likely to be added during the sale event.
You’ll also find Amazon’s famous Flash Deals on the aforementioned page (you can filter your view so you only see Flash Deals using the panel on the left side of the page).
Finally, be sure to follow CNN Underscored on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and check back often. On Amazon Prime Day (and every other day of the year), we’ll be highlighting the best deals throughout the day that you won’t want to miss.
Amazon hasn’t officially announced any specific deals, but on Prime Day, we saw savings that ran the gamut from large electronics and appliances to small household items. Based on what we saw last summer, here are some of the deals we expect to see happening this year:
• BeatsFitProNote: Last Prime Day, the Beats Fit Pro was $159.95 (down from $199.95).
• apple watch series 7Note: We saw the Apple Watch Series 7 on sale during Prime Day for over $100 off.
• Samsung 55-inch Frame Series Smart TV: During Prime Day in July, The Frame dropped to its lowest price ever.
• 2021 Apple TV 4K: Our upgrade pick for the best streaming stick was $70 off last Prime Day, a new all-time low price.
• iRobot Roomba i7+ Robot Vacuum Cleaner: Several models of the smart vacuum cleaner were discounted, but this high-tech one was reduced to the lowest price we’ve seen.
• SonyWH-1000XM4: Our pick for the best headphones overall dropped to a new low price today in blue and black colorways.
Amazon’s Prime Early Access deal isn’t the only big sale to watch out for, as many other major retailers are likely offering discounts as well.
While we recommend Amazon as an option for many of the items listed above, both Walmart and Target may be cutting prices on many electronics, home goods, and more to get closer to (or better than) Amazon prices. In July, both offered significant savings on a wide range of products to coincide with Prime Day.
Electronics giant Best Buy will also likely compete with Prime Early Access Sale deals; in June, the retailer offered up to $300 off select laptops, $200 off select MacBooks, up to $350 off select gaming desktops, and up to 50% off select small kitchen appliances.
For those looking for deep discounts on furniture and appliances, Wayfair is likely to be the place to find the best deals. We anticipate that the retailer will offer sales of up to 60% off, the same savings it offered in July, on the same dates as the Prime Early Access offer.
CNN Underscored editors will be comparing prices (and announcing deals) between retailers during the Prime Early Access Sale, so know that when you see us cover a deal, it’ll be your best bet.
