Senator Kennedy’s New Campaign Ad Shows Anti-Police Bias By Telling Critics To ‘Call A Crackhead’ For Help

Senator John Kennedy’s latest campaign ad criticizes anti-police bias by telling critics to call drug addicts for help when in danger.

“Look, if you hate cops just because they’re cops, next time you get in trouble, call a junkie,” the Louisiana Republican concludes in the ad posted Friday.

Mr. Kennedy, a former Democrat who switched to the Republican Party in 2007, opens the ad by discussing the rise in violent crime in Louisiana and criticizing “wake-up leaders” who “blame the police.”

The 30-second spot features surveillance footage of hooded suspects appearing to be breaking into a residence and people brandishing weapons at a gas station.

It also shows local media headlines about crime cases as Mr. Kennedy, 70, shares his opposition to legislation allowing the early release of violent offenders.

His staff told NOLA.com he was referring to his vote against the bipartisan First Step Act passed during the administration of former President Donald Trump in 2018, which was aimed at reducing unnecessarily long federal sentences.

Gary Chambers, a Democratic challenger to Kennedy, called the ad “racist as hell” for not mentioning opioid or methamphetamine addicts “because it was trying to talk about a specific subset of people you don’t give a damn about.” fuck serve.” Louisiana since he was elected.”

Louisiana will hold a nonpartisan primary election on November 8, followed by a general election on December 1. 10 to determine who will serve a six-year term as a US senator from the state.

New Orleans currently has the highest murder rate in the country: 52 homicides per 100,000 residents, according to WVUE-DT.
